MadCity Riga is an international urban planning hapenning organized annually with the goal of becoming a catalyst for significant urban change. By collaborating with various social groups, the event fosters the creation of new and unconventional ideas, promotes cooperation, and encourages political action.

Since 2016, MadCity has brought together professionals from various fields, including architects, urban planners, artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, to discuss, inspire, and shape visions of future cities. By addressing issues important to the city and bringing together different social groups, we can "break the ice" on matters that have remained unresolved for years or even decades.

MadCity is a hub for generating new ideas. During the course of the event, participants are to sit at the same table and collectively seek practical, implementable solutions to the current problems urban problems of Riga. Mobility points, the sustainable water treatment system at Māras Pond in Āgenskalns, temporary bike lanes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the pedestrian and bike bridge over the Kīleveina canal are just a few of the projects that MadCity has directly or indirectly contributed to.

Organizers

We are “Grupa93” LTD - not only the most experienced urban planning enterprise in Latvia, but also people who care deeply about our city, its life, and its future. Therefore, we organize the international urban planning event “MadCity Riga” every year, because passion and vision alone are not enough.

As part of our everyday work, we develop spatial plans, masterplans, and other planning documents, as well as initiate extensive public participation processes, including discussions, seminars, and hackathons.

MadCity is simultaneously our passion, our hobby, and a tool to bring about real changes in our city.
